Presentation of the GAEC Blondet farm

The GAEC Blondet farm is delighted to open its doors on the 20th and 21st of July 2019, for the first international cattledog championship.

We are proud to welcome the elite of stockdog trainers around the same passion for animals, the values we share in breeding, genetics and competitions.

Two brothers own the GAEC Blondet farm: Stéphane, 45, and Ludovic, 34. The farm is located on the first plateau of the Jura département, more precisely in Chilly-sur-Salins, at an altitude of 630m.

This small region was able to preserve its rural character with its Arbois vineyard, its pure waters in the thermal city of Salins-les-Bains and the city of Poligny, capital of the Comté cheese. With beautiful landscapes of valleys and plateaus, a great diversity where forests holds a dominating place, the setting is suitable to milk breeding, crops only being used to feed the stocks.

The 130ha of farm lands spread at the heart of the Comté and Morbier cheese PDO areas.

The Montbéliarde stock is based on rational grazing in the summer, and in the winter a ration of hay + second crop dried in barn and distributed by a mixer wagon.

The stock of 75 milk cows produces an average of 8800kg and regularly distinguishes itself in contests, with several well-known members such as:

                - HAWAÏ, 4 times 2nd at the Montebéliarde Prestige contest but also 1st in Paris (Salon international de l’Agriculture) in 2018

                - IONAF, 2nd of her section at the national contest in Rennes in 2016, 3rd of the Sommet de l’élevage in 2017 and 2nd in Paris in 2018. She is also the mother of MAXIMO JB, a Jura Bétail bull (Jura Bétail is a Montbéliarde genetic company).

During this wonderful weekend, you will have the opportunity to visit the farm buildings, especially the one that shelters the milk cows, which was inaugurated in 2011 and elected 2nd best building in France in 2012. Its combination of walls and doors made of tarpaulins allows it to transform into a sunshade in the summer and into a closed luminous building in the winter. It contains hollow cubicles with a whitewash-and-straw liter and a 2x8 milking parlour with milking from behind and fast exit on the scrapers.

You also will be able to discover the new HOLM&LAUE outdoor nursery.
